I need a decent soundcard for my new computer. I mainly need one with good quiet outputs to send to my reference amp and monitors when mixing on the computer. I also wouldn't mind having one or two inputs to record on occassionaly...I have an m-audio dmp3 preamp and usually record on a stand alone unit.

I also just got a used Emu APS sound card but it didn't come with the breakout box, plus I've read you have to convert frequencies...and I don't even know if it has any outs on the card.

Any info and suggestions would be great.

Thanks,
Jeremy

Try motu or rme...

motu for MAC and rme for PC

Also pricy !!
May want to look into the m-audio series. Delta 44-66 or 10/10

best sound card to date =lynxtwo but it cost approx~ $1000, List price anyway

It sounds like what you want at a minimum would be an m-Audio Audiophile or an Echo Mia, both under $200.

If you want better converters, the LynxOne would be a good choice and it's in the $400-500 range. It doesn't do 96khz recording though (although it might playback 96k).

All those cards are basically stereo cards, two inputs & two outputs.
