Well

Well it def. depends on want u want as the composer im young and kinda new at this but most people i know who are stricly musician tend to like finale its a score editor basaicly if u like using the midi to edit your song there is alot of diffrent programs if u kinda like doing it both u can try somthing like logic but logic is not really as complex as a score editor as finale but you can edit with both midi and a score
Ps. logic is also very expensive finale is cheaper and it does come with some sounds and does support vst plugins but i dont know the extensive knowledge of of sounds it has b/c i dont have it personaly
sry if doesnt help i tried

finale is a personal favorite...
very functional
its free isnt it?
its miraculously on my computer, and i dont know how it got there...
i thank god for it though, its a nice program

finale kinda sucks though with guitar writing.it doesnt have very much tunings for guitars and bass.

finale is for a more proffesional way of composition. if you want different tunings you just have to know how to denote it on the staff. And just notate what tuning it is at the top of the score, in the top left corner.

powertab is free and not too shabby. Works well for guitar, bass, etc., anyway. Probably not the best, but for a freebie, might be a good place to start.

I use Powertab. General MIDI guitars sound really bad, but it allows me to get my arrangements together. I write all of my guitar solos in it too. I've even had some happy accidents because of Powertab.
For lyrics I use MS Word and www.rhymezone.com!

Right now im using guitar pro 5 because it doesnt have midi sounds for the guitars and stuff but i always put the drums on midi because drums sound like shit on that but i was just wondering if it was a good way to go.

I like Guitar Pro, but my trial finished, so I have to wait til payday to buy it. Looking forward to trying it with the RSE

whoever neg rep'd me for sayin finale is free should burn in hell

my brother downloaded a "FREE TRIAL VERSION" its not the complete version, but it still works and its legal...
i hate piraters and once again,
i have done nothing wrong biatch

Relax dude. Its only reputation. Hey look at me. I have 2 of them :)

And look at me, I have 700 of em. And I earned maybe 2 of them. I think I should follow Pingu's lead

honestly anything with midi...even fruity loops...just so i can put notes on a keyboard type thing and hear it back, that's good enough for me. ha.
