Best recording Scenario?

Aright, Im gonna give you all the equipment and situation, /you/ give me the setup. tell me how to make the most of this:

I have an Acoustic/Electric Guitar, as well as an Electric (PRS). I then have a Peavey Banditt 112 amp, and a Shur SM57. I have a Tascam 424 MKIII and am in a medium sized, carpeted room. I want to record, mainly the acoustic guitar. It is going to be guitars alone, and perhaps some small auciliarry percussians (but all i want to know is about the guitars)

I am going to record the acoustic guitar the most, with a little electrci guitar in the song. Now, using this equipment, what is the best setup. I mean everything (equalizers, tone, mic positioning, amp placement, volum etc. andything you can contribute).

Finally once I have recorded this onto the 4-track I will mix it down onto my computer... if you have any tips about this mixing down process onto the computer, go ahead and through that in. (Im just using Recordit by Iomega to record on the computer, nothing like cakewalk or anything )

Gimme info! just take all of this and setup it up for optimal response.

Well ur sort of short on mics.....
if you could get another mic for the acustic you woul be in better shape, but.....
If ur peavy has a direct out I would plug that into the 424, then eq to taste(I cant tell you how to eq it, cause thats up to ur ears).Then I would in my experiance use a combo of the eclectric accustics built in electronics and micing withe 57 and ofcourse you have to find the sounds ur self casue only U know what sound you want all I can say is set ur eq flat and go from there(cut boost) and just mix the electric guitar back a bit(less volume). other than that man I cant really give much advise, recording is about experimentation and finding the sounds urself.

on the acoustic, mic it at the 12th fret and point the mic back at the body. also plug in if you have a decent pre.(fishman type) compare the two and mix or use the best one if you encounter phase issues. I always had the most luck pluging direct with cassete type recorders(noisy).
anyway, that would be my first approach.
and than I would expirment more.

If you have like 30$ to throw around you might consider one of those stick-on acoustic transducer pickups. I bought a dean markley one that i like for i think 35$. Plug that into your 4 track and mic the guitar as mr mosbrook described. The pickup by itself doesnt sound too great, but if ya mix the 2 signals (mic and pickup hard left and hard right, you get a kind of chimey sound. I usually mix the mic signal a little higher than the pickup signal. Short of getting another mic, this is my preferred method of recording acoustics. Additionally,if you plug the pickup into your amp and then mic the amp (with the reverb up), it sounds kinda like a hollowbody electric. Good for solos when electric isnt working for ya. And do it all exactly as i say! bwahahahaha! Sorry, just thought i wuz sounding like a recording nazi. Best of luck.
