Best Quality Interface $1,500 or under?

Looking to purchase a high quality interface, # of channels not important, quality is.
 
I have a Lynx Two soundcard, but I want an interface as well, which is why I asked.
 
I guess I'm missing something here.

WTD between a soundcard and an interface??? Is it the breakout box??? Or is it a format thing???
 
I use Lucid AD into an RME Digiface for my two track or less work, very good sound and in your price range. Gives you multiple TOSLINK / ADAT ports, SPDIF, MIDI I/O x 2 and an analog output to drive a headphone amp. RME's Totalmix software that's included is outstanding for headphone mixes etc, I can't think of a better monitoring setup.

Ok, I'm with you. It's very early. At least it seems like it's early........ :)

I bought the Lynx with the idea of eventully putting a Lucid AD/DA into the AES I/O.
 
I have 2x MOTU 828 mk IIs and an RME Digi96/8 Pad card running into a G5. Both are nice !
