Swizz Beatz is the corniest dude to ever sit behind a keyboard. I mean come on "one of the best" ????? What next, r u gonna put Mannie Fresh in the hall of fame???

hey eclipse, it doesn't matter if the subject is good producers, the forum is hip hop so it is assumed that the subject is going to be about hip hop/r&b/rap. Notice how I let rodney jerkins and dallas austin slide, that was not by happenstance. But dude, Jimmy jam and terry lewis? I have to draw the line with them. Can you name someone that they produce who is under the Hip hop/R&b/ rap beats? Probably not since Janet has turned pop.

I feel you nononsensetype, and I personally wouldn't list Jam and Lewis. But if someone thinks they deserve to be put out here then I say put em out. This is a hip hop forum and most cats in hear are hip hop headz and you can tell by the names that repeatedly have been mentioned in this thread, but anyone should feel free to list any producer they want to give props to. As a matter of fact I think whoever did the productions for N'syncs "Pop" song deserves props for it, even here in a hip hop forum. When I hear that song all I can think is "damb, that production took some serious work and was done by someone who is on some next level shit". You can't deny that the production of that song, and most other pop songs, has been influenced/inspired by hip hop in some way.

Hey, personally I like mannie fresh's production work. Even if you don't like the rapping. The beats are original, and he only uses real instruments. I got to respect that.

Also,
Dre- new shit and the old shit.
Premier
automator
dj shadow
dj krush
RZA

I don't get the hype about Timbaland, who else does he produce?
All that comes to mind is that one beat he uses in multiple songs.

Mannie Fresh??? Real instruments??? Who in the blue hell lied to YOU?????

YALL SLEEPING!!!!

YALL FOOLZ GOTTA BE SLEEPING OR DOPE OUT FOR NOT PUTTING THE MOST INFAMOUS "BEATS BY THE POUND" (NOW KNOWN AS MEDICINE MEN).BBTP WAS THE RAWEST BEAT MAKERS EVER TO HIT THE SCENE.CRAIG B. YALL SLEEPING....BBTP POUND WAS CREATIVE WITH THEY SHIT.NO DOUBT "PIMP C" GOT SOME SKILLZ...BUT
4 NOW I'M TALKIN BOUT BBTP..I STHEIR ANYBODY OUT THEIR FEELIN ME ON THIS ONE......BY THE WAY THE WORST TO EVA HIT THE SCENE IS "NEPTUNES" GARBAGE ASSES.THEY SIMPLE AS HELL.WHUT THEY MAKE THEY BEATS ON CASIO..LOL

Nah we ain't sleepin, we just know we're talkin bout the best, not the rest. Therefore beats by the pound, pimp c etc. have no place here.

eclipse, the producer for"pop" is one of the guys i had listed first. his name is "BT". the only reason i threw him up there is because of the "dj" tag on the group discussion name. hes definately not hip hop but very very original. i totally agree that pop is influenced by hip hop. ive always said that you can tell where pop is going to go by listening to hip hop now. give it a couple of years and it usually switches, plus you have alot of crossing over (jerkins, austin) 'nsyncs latest album was produced by 90% r&b producers. the guys that did"shake ya ass" have at least 3 on there. anyway, thanks for listening to my rantin'. :)

ps-BTW, BT has an amazing solo album called"movements in still life" that you should be able to pick up at any music store.

speaking of best producers...

Speaking of best producers, does any one else really believe that beyonce managed to lay down that survivor track by herself or do you feel like me and think that she is taking credit for someone else's work?

Beyonce doesn't lay down tracks, she wouldn't even know what a sequence was.

Yo, Is Everyone Forgeting

Pete Rock
Hi Tek
Diamond D
Jay Dee
Quest Love

No I was just asking because I heard the other girls in the group stating that she wrote and produced every song on the albulm. I've never executive produced a cd but I would think that the laying down of the tracks would be included in that process.(no sarcasm intended)

Oh yeah and beats by the pound did kind of have a monopoly on the market for a while. In fact, the only other label dealing with rap/hip hop that would have even been a rival as far as cd sales would be death row. Even though no limit was pushing out a cd a month back then. That just shows how good they were to be able to drop cd's at that rate, bet the neptunes couldn't do that.

Medicine Men

See, this is why I purposely said no sarcasm intended. Just looked at cdnow.com and found a zillion producer credits listed. I guess that they lied.

all being executive producer means is that you have the LAST word of what does and does not go on the album. everybody else (producers/engineers/artists) go do all the work and then bring thier results to the altar of the executive producer( who is usually the artists A&R rep, label owner) who then says if they like it or not, tells them what they do and dont like and then sends them on thier way again until it sounds like THEY want it to. :( some artists are fortunate enough to have exec prdcrs that believe in the artists vision, or some are even lucky enough to be able to do it themselves.

I agree with someone who said something about the nsync's "Dirty Pop" producer...
They guy definitly knows how to use autotuners!! :D

Here is an "old school" producer I forgot to mention...

Ced Gee from "The Ultramagnetic MC's".

And....

I retract my statement stating that I think the Neptunes are "great" producers, because I now think that ALL of their tracks sound the same. :(
