Aparently you have never played through a Blue Voodoo or a little V33 for that matter:p
I have and, even though their tube stuff sounds better than their SS stuff, it still just sounds like a bag of bees.

so maybe they don't stand up to a JCM9000... for the money these are great reliable amps....
The JCM900 was the worst tube amp that Marshall ever made, if a Crate doesn't stand up to that...

Yes, for the money they are reliable. They just don't sound very good, they don't mic well and just aren't serious amps for anyone that is looking for 'tone'.

Honestly I've never played through a JCM900, they just seem to be pretty popular to alot of people, i guess that was a bad Marshall generalization, lawl. And, if your after serious tone, I agree to not go Crate SS, but I kinda liked the blue voodoo i played for. I guess, the core of my argument is that for an entry level, low priced amp I'd go Crate before Behringer or similiar brands.

Rogue, do you own either of the Crates you mentioned?

i didnt see the v100h or the randall in your clips?

btw, youll have to show me how to reamp sometime!

how long are we supposed to beat on this horse?
I mean we have given you our opinions now it is up to what you want to buy.

I still stand by my position. Beg, borrow, steal...but buy the best amp you can't afford. It will save you a ton of money in the long run. Tell your buddy to go turn tricks on the corner, swipe his grandma's wallet, or get a credit card he can't possibly pay back, or go donate blood, and sperm. Stop messing around with trying to pick the best garbage "for the price".

If you are not going to take that advice (which most don't, and then give it themselves later in life), then GO PLAY THROUGH SOME AMPS AND PICK THE ONE THAT SOUNDS BEST.

There is no more advice to give. Let us know when he decides, and what he gets.

lol.....3 negative reps from Toker. I can't believe you think about me enough to come back and keep neg rep'ing me over the course of 10 days, considering the process needed to be able to apply a second rep to someone, let alone a third. That is kind of creepy.
The internet is full of these creeps though. You must have a sick infatuation. John Wayne Gacy comes to mind.

I really got to you....wow....

The neg rep you left me saying "suck a dick" deserves a little attention. That, and the fact that you pop on this thread, insult people, add nothing, and then neg rep people. Now you're back to troll, and still adding nothing. You're a brave sole from behind the mask of a monitor, huh? Don't flatter yourself too much, however, because it's really not any effort. With over 2 million rep points, I could hit you every day.

Nice to see I got to you, though.;)

I might have a Blue Voodoo head that I might be talked into selling relatively cheap. Out of all the Crate amps I've played, the Blue Voodoo was the only one I ever added to my collection, but at this point...I need some room, and I wouldn't mind helping you out at the same time. I certainly wouldn't put it up against my Boogies, but it's not a bad sounding amp. I re-tubed it a year ago, and haven't really played it much. I've also got a matching cab with V30's, but I wouldn't be into shipping that. Send me a PM if your buddy is interested.

I've been looking at my Blue Voodoo 60 since you posted this. I pulled the matching cab with V30's out, and powered it up today for the first time in awhile. Now I remember why I bought it. It's actually a nice sounding head. I was just as surprised when I plugged it in today, as I was the day I bought it. Really didn't expect it to sound that good. Clean channel is actually nicer than my Rectifiers (doesn't match my Fender twin, though:p). The reverb actually sounds better than the reverb on my Road King. They did a nice job on this one. I think it's in the mid's. Nice range on the mid control gives it a bit of versatility. Gain is thick, but crystal clear with a ton to spare. Doesn't get muddy, or grainy. I retubed it when I bought it about a year ago, but I don't remember what tube it has in it. I wanna say they sound like 6L6's.

You're not selling me on the V33, though.:p
