hi folks, here I am with another already posted question:
I'm about to format my pc, 'cause I just bought a new HDD (80 gigs, maxtor dx740 ), and I have every single microsoft's operating systems at home, and I was wondering wich one I should install to get soundforge, cooledit and sonar running fine, along with a SBlive 5.1.

win98FE
win98SE
win2kpro sp2
winXPpro
I was running 98fe and 2kpro on a dual boot before, and 98 crashed awfully often and I had some troubles with DX plugins on 2k.

are there any drivers issues on 2k and XP ? ...

thanks for your help.

winXPPro is working fine over here. i tried 2000 with sp2 again about 2 weeks ago, but Xp performs much better.

I have decent results with 98SE using Logic Audio and CoolEdit. Occasional crashes but nothing too bad.

The SB should work fine on any system. It's your software to be carefull of. Some programs dont fully support the newer OS's yet.

Win 98 SE is the best performer as far as track count/plugins, etc. It has the least GUI overhead of all the OSes, and is more stable than 98FE.

However, you will get better latency with the newer driver models provided by ME and XP. I'm not sure if all those apps are supported on XP yet.

from what i heard though there aren't yet alot of drivers for sound card on xp

the best would be between XP and 2000 with sp2...on my computer xp blows 200 away...athlonXP 1600+
