Every now and then you run across a gem in this forum. I have a hard time keeping up with it because of all the new stuff flying around in here and after a few bouts with some not-so-great downloads and stuff. But there have been some great ones! What have your favorites been?

 Here's a few of mine...

Telefunken's "Leaving"
http://www.homerecording.com/bbs/showthread.php?s=&threadid=32936

Macle's "Despair"
http://www.homerecording.com/bbs/showthread.php?s=&threadid=29816

lkmuller's "summer in the cane"
http://www.homerecording.com/bbs/showthread.php?s=&threadid=28112

macle's "Joke"
http://www.homerecording.com/bbs/showthread.php?s=&threadid=28108

Ulli's "Reefer Slackness"
http://www.homerecording.com/bbs/showthread.php?s=&threadid=27842

macle's "fingerprints"
http://www.homerecording.com/bbs/showthread.php?s=&threadid=27588

Now admittedly I haven't been keeping up around here, so what's been good!?

I really enjoyed "Gravity" by Shallow End Swimming, especially after Simes remixed it.

Rats,

Got to agree on the Macle vote, there is some major talent.

If he reads this thread, his head will explode, and I'm not cleaning it up!

I also like therons stuff, not perfectly polished, but original and catchy.

Actually I like everyones music here, as crazy as it sounds, the thing I like the least is, bad electric guitar tone, seems to ruin a song.

One that I thought outstanding was the "Matrix has Inverted". Remember that one submitted by sjoko? A friend of his, I think he called him Robinson. He was the guy who recorded all that stuff on an old Mackie and a few adats or something but now has a Mackie D8B. Anyway it had about 14 tracks, and he played about a zillion different instruments. It was great!

Also, "Symphomania" - dragonworks
"Prokofiev Sonata, Opus 80" - DavidK
"Mustang Sally" - MAC2 and Buck62
"Space Breath" - sonusman
"Put Out the Dog & Make Em Bounce" - Recording Engineer
"You Gotta have goals" - LI Slim
"Always There" - MISTERQCUE
"Unread" - Teddie
"Rock and Roll Cliche" - Queue
"Better Days" - CMiller

Just to name a few; there have been lots of other great ones :).

Damn,
That song rocked my socks all the way to PNW?
toyz, can you send 'em back to me when you regain consciousness?

Ammith's cover of Pearl Jam's "Corduroy" - he did an amazing job of matching tones and I like the flavor he adds to the song.
"Corduroy"

Maryslittlesecret - I really liked "Job's Song" but that may because I am always down for some good bible bashing. Also MLS demonstrates how to get great mixes with humble gear.

Royston's "Professional Bohemian"- Muddy lows, harsh high ends, and a bit too long but I listen to it (through head phones only) again and again. He does a good job of capturing that cool 60s lo fi brit pop sound. It's catchy too.
"Professional Bohemian"

And though it's already been said, Macle is the man.

That Curt G did have a nice sound to his recording.

Thanks to you who put links in your threads, it's a hell of at lot easier to find the song you're referring to, and we'll all be a lot more apt to listen to it!

What about Slackmaster? Don't forget about him now.http://artists.mp3s.com/artists/61/slacker.html
He's got some good shit out there. Actually just listened to the "Matrtew's Love Life" for the first time. Freak.

And of course drstawl. If you like unconventional weirdo symphonic tweak tonal neuro-core, you'll love this shit!

OK, but I will have to send them COD, registered mail and all, Id hate to get accused of unethical practices or something... Anyone know if Rogain works in nasal cavities?

Peace,
Dennis

Thanks for the nod rats, but I haven't been using that MP3.COM site in a long time. My new page is at http://www.slackmaster2000.com and there are probably about 5 new songs if matthew's love life is the most recent listing at the old MP3.COM site. (don't listen to "the next day", if you happen by, because it's long and weird and annoying! i like it tho)

I think that S8-N's stuff is great: http://www.mofocult.com (or try http://www.mp3.com/mofocult since the main site is not working right for me).... although he hasn't been posting his most recent material which is fabtastulific!

I also have really liked everything that Brad has posted, although he hasn't posted in a long time. Some of Meshuggah's stuff is excellent... the king of 30 second clips :) "Bad Dream" was great, I wish I could remember the damn URL for that tune...I'm pretty sure he plays bass in the band that did it, and he recorded it.

Ametth's "Blatchford" is probably one of the best things I've ever heard on the BBS here, and it barely got any notice. http://www.mp3.com/ilyarock

And of course we can't forget about ol' Doc who's site can be found (for a while) just a few threads below. I always learn a lot from his crazy shit...even if I still don't get it.

I'm probably forgetting about a lot of great stuff.

Slackmaster 2000

Hey rats, VirtualSamana, and GT, thanks, I am honored! (How much do I owe you!?!;) ) GT, my brains and junk are all over the floor and walls, but I'm more than happy to clean it up myself:)

Adding to the list, I remember a song by Shaillat (sp?) that was really good. A vocal choir kind a thing (Dror). Also, David had a really good rock n roll song (Rebel Yell (not the Billy Idol song)). And Emeric had a cool tune that was sort of jazzy pop, with piano (unfortunately I don't remember the title). (Sorry, also, that I don't have urls.)

Thanks again you guys, that's really cool.

Macle

Sorry guys, not to have entered the URLs, but I think I wrote the titles pretty much the exact way they were posted. So hopefully the search feature will give quick results to finding the songs I listed.

Wow, I feel honored to be mentioned with those other people whose music I admire. That's cool!

I've got a few of my favorites (certainly not all) that I listen to with borderline fanatical devotion...

Emeric. Pick anything at random and you can't go wrong. Here's a link...http://dreamwater.net/emeric/

Of course Slackmaster, Brad, DrStawl, and S8-N whose links are already posted.

One of my favorites is jitteringjim...http://artists.mp3s.com/artists/53/greg_brogan.html

I like Teddie's stuff, but he's never around here anymore unless he's promoting something.

God, the list is endless. This is really the best kept secret on the net. If you guys got a fraction of what you deserve for bringing as much joy to people with your music as you do...you'd be wealthy men (or women).

Some of you I haven't heard yet, but it is only because I lack the patience to download on my 56k modem. I'll listen to you eventually.

Hey, I'm also honored that our recording and mix of Mustang Sally was mentioned.... Thanx, langleyt! :)

The previous site where it was posted is long gone, so I put it back up on NoWhere Radio, right here....
http://www.nowhereradio.com/artists/alternative/bucksjams/

Some of my favorites are....

Anything by Emeric (Loan & Plant)

Anything by Teddie Tapawan (a.k.a. SmartApple)

Anything by maryslittlesecret

Anything by Slackmaster2K

Cat Brains by drstawl (awesome)

I Hope You Get There by The Hand Merchants (Recording Engineer)

Fingerprints by Macle

Devil Beer by MofoCult (S8-N)

Some of Jon X's stuff

GT's cover of that James Taylor tune

jgourd's live recording of Mean Town (especially Voodoo Child)

...and who can forget Brad's "Wigga Get Off My Mutha"?? (killer shit!)

I could go on for awhile here.
Damn, you guys make some great music! :)

Buck

mostly bs on mp3

you've not reviewed - you've not been to most sites....

empty, hollow, logs are not worth reading

Yule log.

I like this thread because of the way it makes me feel.
