hello guys,

What mobo would you recommend for Intel duo CPU?

I'm thinking of switching back to intel as my amd X2 3,8ghz on gigabyte 939 mobo isn't a king of stability (because of my aardvark fuc.. ad/da), very fast though.

I expect the intel-based system will be fast and STABLE this time.

The best stability will come from the Intel boards, the 975 is tops or one of the 965 boards if youre on a budget.

AMD doesn't make a 3.8Ghz x2 processor. If your Aardvark is causing instability what makes you think that buying an Intel computer will fix the problem?

He's talking about an Athlon X2 3800+, well, presumably. I do agree though about your second point..

I use a similar setup and have no issues at all with any software. I recommend you check your RAM and whatnot. What chipset is on the board that you have now? I'm in the nForce camp at the minute, since VIA & SiS boards have never performed as well as the nForce ones I've owned.

Guys,

Thanks for your replies.

As for my system:
I use Gigabyte K8NS 939 Ultra (Nforce3) with AMD x2 3,8Ghz and 2x1024 Geil sticks which are rather not bad.

The instability is because of Aardvark which has always had problems with non-intel based systems. I have used several daws basing on different mobos including via and there was always a problem with stability. The most stable system I had was basing on intel 815chipset with pentium 3 733mhz inside.

This makes me think that an intel-based system may be more stable but I may be wrong the same.

do you think that switching to intel won't help?

I have heard ppl report here that Nforce does not play nice with audio hardware. I recommend the 965 chipset, it runs the newer ICH8 (the 975 runs the older ICH7 which supports raid, 965/ICH8 does not) and is cheap and stable

Geil sticks are not all that good either man. They cheap, yes, but paying the extra $10 bucks or $20 bucks for Corsair or Kingston, or OCZ or any of the higher brands would be better.
