I only have $ to purchase one microphone. We plan to use it for a number of things. Vocal recording, music, interviews (indoor and outdoor), recording meetings, etc. - mostly for eventually posting on our webpage in an audio format.

We currently have a Azden ECZ-990 - Super-Cardioid Shotgun, which has been doing a decent job. I don't know why we own this model, I think someone just brought it to work one day.. But, I think this model is generally used as an add on for a video camera.

Anyhow, since I have a budget to work with, I'm looking for something that can do it all. $100-$300. I plan to do my recording with something like a Tascam Pocket studio, or some form of a digital recording device.

Thanks!

Ok, maybe I should rephrase this - could I get a decent microphone for $100? I don't know much about microphones at all. The only thing I cared about as a kid in a rock band was that the microphone worked!

You can do most of that with a Shure SM57. Recording meeting is tricky though, since the 57 is directional. What you really want for that is an omni PZM. The PZM can be used for other things too, it's commonly used to record grand piano and also ensembles. It would work for interviews if there was a table available :)
