i guess different mics suits different voices, but is there in your opinion a mic that's generaly better than the rest?

AT 4050 or 4047 for more color and warmth. An AKG 414 can work well for some singers.

I've used a CAD 179 with nice results...BUT...that's my voice. Worked pretty nice on drums too. Is it the best for voice? Well, no! I think she's a good multi-purpose though.

The "best" can be debated through and through here. Cruising around in the mic forum will highlight some of the best experiences recording vox (that and a lot of old BS that transpired through the years).

thanks...i think the AT4047 seems like a better option for me, while the CAD 179 would be good for female vocals...i guess both would be nice to have

If you've got enough $ for a 4047, grab it, it never disappoints

Yeah, unless you have a crappy voice like I do...then it can dissapoint.

yer well...i guess there are better ones but probably 10 times more expensive than the 4047......brauner VMA or akg c12
