Best Mic For Recording Rap Vocals?

whats the best mic to record rap vocals, in the $400-500 range? also, compressors in the $400 range. im currently running an mbox 2, with a MK-319 plugged into the mbox preamps, with no compressor and it sounds like complete crap. so i wanna replace the mic and get some gear to make the vocals sound professional quality. if anyone has any suggestions, please let me know

Shouldn't sound THAT bad....

What you have now is 'prosumer' and it shouldn't sound terrible. It probably won't sound like pro, but it shouldn't sound like total crap....
