lol okay lots of sarcaism on here lol but hell theres sarcaism on every board lol

okay well i still havent bought a mic yet and there has been a lot of help on here!

and the reasone i purchased the mobile pre was because it ran as if it was its own sound card through USB and my on board sound messed up

but i also plan on doing rap msuic with a rock feel to it

that would be the music im trying to recored! more vocals than anything!

the rode nt-1 looks a lil bit outta my price range too =[

but i took a look at the AT2020 seems like a pretty good mic and more in my price range im thinking bout getting this one!!

p.s. and if any of yall have the mobile pre have yall had problems with the stereo mic input not work?

A lot of M-audio seems to have that problem..
Maybe you just need to wiggle or slightly pull on it until it sounds right. Examine how it's routed in your settings.Or worst case scenario send it back...

I bought it for my nephew,So it is not in my house..But his works fine ..He records direct with his and uses a cheapo shure mic with :rolleyes:mmmmmmm ok results I guess...

Get the AT2020 And start spittin...Whats a hundred bucks , I'd say if thats your price range go for it:D

As far as the Mobile Pre, I have one and use it with an AT 4033a. But the end result is little better than the same mic through an Art Tube MP preamp. Actually the art is slightly better sounding. But decent if all you're familiar with is a standard cheapo computer mic. Nothing like the shootouts or demos of the mic.

The stereo mic works. BUUUT, it doesn't provide a bias voltage like your typical onboard PC soundcard stereo input. So if you're trying to use an unpowered mic it wont work. If you're recording from the output of your cd/LP/mp3 player, it will work. It's more of a line in port, not a stereo mic port. You might be able to get aroud that with extra hardware like the giant squid batterybox. I would post a link, but I haven't made five posts yet and am not allowed to.

okay well i got all of my shit back in

The premoblie pre amp (and yes like u said the stereo mic input is only for what u said)

The AT2020

and the mic stand

but okay im having a problem do i need two mics or somthing to get vocals on my left and right side?

i have the XLR to XLR cable that i went out and bought pluged into channel 1 well when i recored i only get sound on the left side of my head phones and it shows on the layer that im only recording on the left side.

but when i switch the XLR cable to channel 2 im only getting sound recored on the right side!

so this has me really lost

It doesnt matter. Recording with one mic is in MONO. If you are only hearing it on the left, you need to pan it to the center. Check your recording software, there will be a pan button/slider, put the vocal in the middle or anywhere you want it.

yea ive already checked that!
in cooledit it shows my pan is even the entire time!

Then move it to the right. If the sound doesnt move, then maybe your output is messed up . Check the output wires.
