Does this Free fitler stuff really work? You mean I could even put in some Beatle songs as a sample and it would really bring my mix closer to "The Beatles Sound?"
I know...I know...that the actual Beatles sound is really thin comapred to todays mixes and maybe outdated(But is still much better in my opinoin). But youre telling me it should work even in an extreme case such as this?

To the contrary...

Freefilter is an amateur ear's shining hope of nearly duplicating another band's sound. (That's the reason i use it .. i'm far from pro.) It is to be used with great care and not to be abused. It gives you a staritng point that's much closer to your goal than you would be without it.

Don't use freefilter in 'extreme' cases. Making a jazz quartet sound like the Beatles is a no-no. Making a rock'n'roll band that uses mild fuzz guitars and plays a similar genre, then YES.

Besides, a jazz quartet doesn't aspire to sound like the Beatles, nor does Metallica. Set a logical goal and then run with it.


If your music is similar to Beatles, then by all means, give it a shot.

Your music has to have the same instruments and vocalist gender to get decent results. You can of course use freefilter on a simply instrumental passage if your vocalist is female (still on the topic of the Beatles).

For the Beatles, I'd start by rolling off some of the bass .

Then let freefilter learn the Beatles tune and apply it to yours.

You will get decent results. As mentioned above, you'll still need to tweak.
