Best lyrics you've ever read (written)?

I can't believe we're on page four and no one else has mentioned Bernie Taupin! Yeah, I know it's not fashionable to "respect" Elton John these days, but "Empty Garden," "Ticking," and "The Greatest Discovery" are some of the best lyrics ever. Check 'em out.

Other good lyricists:

Brian May (Queen) -- anyone who can write a song about the effects of Special Relativity has to be good, not even touching his solo version of "Too Much Love Will Kill You."

Andy Sturmer (Jellyfish) -- "Indecision won't you ever make up your mind?", "All they wanted to be was as happy as couple number three on their favorite game show" -- good stuff.

Honorable mention goes to Matthew Sweet, Roger Waters (if he'd ever stop whining about daddy dying in WWII), and Dylan. I won't even get into the greats (Irving Berlin, Ira Gershwin, Lennon, etc.)
