Jordan Rudess is not mentioned ?? (maybe i missed the post mentioning him)
he's a good player with good patch choices and good usage of samples.
AMAZING TECHNIQUE.

Kevin Moore is also a good keyboardist, putting his heart to the notes he play.

(did i mention i used to listen to Dream Theater ?)

Keyboardists

Howard Jones did some great work in the mid eighties. Bruce Hornsby of course.

Gil Evans
Oliver Jones
Art Tatum
Herbie Hancock

Just to name a few to keep it real.

Ahem....

John Paul Jones anyone?

Martin Rev from Suicide did incredible things way ahead for the times as well.

There are many great keyboard players out there. I really like Billy Preston but my vote would have to be for Keith Emerson. Classically trained, over the course of his career I think he is tops in mechanics, composition and sheer energy. He can effectively do the entire range from soft beautiful classical to hard energy rock. He really reached new heights in analog synth music previously undone in the mainstream.

Just my 2 cents.

Mark Estes

Jon Lord, nobody like him, not only because of the glorious growling Hammond B-3 but also because he could carry a Deep Purple song without Blackmore playing at all... and always so groovy, so natural, so expressive, and so powerful!!!!! the best rock organ player ever...

Then I also like Yanni... and you can't forget Vitalij Kuprij and Derek Sherinian...

how about some Roddy Bottum from faith no more :)

check out some of their songs from the real thing or angel dust to hear some of his simple but cool keyboarding.

hE BE "DA" MAN.

Of course, he is an older dude in Hollywood but can really wail on the keys. Well, he used to do that.

Green Hornet :D

Give a listen to his arrangement of "Back Home in Indiana" if you can find a copy.
