i use Battery 3 and Strike.
Strike is very realistic and sounds great to me.
the sounds are very tweakable and i like the GUI better than that of BFD.

Natural studio has a full version of their ns_kit7 which sounds really good. The only problem with it is that you'll need a sampler since the DVDs only contain the samples. However, the DVDs are fairly inexpensive in comparison ($110). They spent a lot of time getting the high hats to sound as realistic as possible. With 5 DVDs of samples, there's quite a bit of variety. The samples sound good, and I was pleasantly surprised with ns_kit7 free which is a very slimmed down version of it.

Holy crap, I just downloaded the demo of addictive drums and it blows everything else out of the water. I couldn't find a single flaw with it. This is definitely going to be my next purchase, alongside a MIDI drum pad controller.

Wish I knew how to use these drum synths, they sound so good. I was gonna buy BFD, but now I dunno.

Just curious if you took all the eq and reverb off Addictive Drums then listened to how it sounds then. Yuck.

The great thing I like about BFD is that its totally unprocessed, just like it would be if I had recorded the drum tracks myself. Then I can do what I want to the tracks in my DAW.

Yes. I turn off the plug-in's reverb, and compression, but not the eq, which are specific to the 100 or so pre-set kits available. I am flying drum tracks I creat in Logic over to my VS2000CD, where I have the LN1176 plugin, which does a rocking job on the tracks. I still have some tweaking to go to get my sound, but once I do, I think I'll be creating drum tracks that only other people experienced in recording will recognize.

I didn't like BFD. I found a lot of the sounds quite 'boxy.'

YMMV, but for every bad review of AD, I see about 20 good ones.

Yeah but is that REALLY relevant? If it sounds good WITH the verb and EQ, leave 'em in. It's very handy for someone who needs drums fast, the pre made beats are cool.

For fast scratch stuff I prefer loops. When I want real drums that I can really shape I either hire a drummer or use BFD. But everyone uses different things for different purposes.... or the 808 wouldn't exist. :)

I love loops, very happy with Drums on Demand even though Cubase SE3 doesn't support acidized wavs.

Yes thats true, I have EZdrummer, but It's really easy to reqognise in other peoples recordings. Addictive blew me away

I dl'd the demo for Addictive Drummer but having never bothered with looking into drum synths, don't know how to use it.

Put it in as a midi vsti. Then go to beats and click on one you want.

Addictive Drums
I'll have to second this. I used to be an avid supporter of DFH software, but comparing EZdrummer and AD, AD blows it out of the water. I do own DFHS as well but rarely use it because comparitively AD gets me better results for far less work (and storage space).

Check out Platinum Samples BFD add-ons, they are by far the best drums I've heard...much better than any BFD has put out to my ears, especially if you're into rock type stuff.

I love reason with rdk2.

Then again, I've been using reason for years and it was the first program that I really learned midi in. I can see how it would have a big learning curve due to the fact that it is completely different from all other programs.

On the other hand, you have great samples, extremely customizable kits, unlimited amounts of processing, and besides... you'll use reason for other things besides drums. Its a great piece of software to learn!

drumagog

Write a convincing drum part then convert the midi notes to audio pulses and fire off drumagog for some multisamples

absolutely Addictive Drums for me....
I used Battery before but this beats it for realism. I still give the instruments their own channel though, just to give the drumkit on the whole more color.

I have and like ezdrummer.
Will check out Addictive drums tho.

Anybody here using one of those software title's and as well a set of Electronic Drums ?

I swear.... the midi isn't being recorded accuratley or something.

The performance seems slow or lifeless whenever I run the midi data through DFH, BFD, REASON, etc.

But then I can run the Midi data back into the Roland TD-6V V-Drums, and it sounds fine again.

why cant you record your digital kit the old fasioned way ...ie record it di ??

that way there is no latency probs whatsoever....you even have the click track to play to....

obviously no room for mistakes...but your a drummer right?
