Which of these 2 cards has better drivers? Or is it just a matter of preference?

Some factors to consider... latency, mixing/ monitoring capabilities, interface, stability, compatability, user friendliness...

I'm running WinXP and would like to know which would work best on my system. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Dont know about MIA but the audiophile I was using with XP was damn near 0 latency and the ASIO driver never failed. It was an excellent card all around.

Echo drivers have 'purewave' option that avoids kmixer resampling in XP. I dont believe M-Audio drivers have this feature (RME is the only other company I am aware of that avoid kmixer resampling for their wave drivers).

The Mia has 4 stereo pairs of virtual outputs. Could someone that owns an audiophile let us know how many virtual outputs it has.

Otherwise they are both pretty similar and good.
