Hey, since searching is diabled, i've gotta ask.

Where are the best online deals on mics? i wanna pick up a couple rodes and studio projects, kind of thing.

Thanks!

Hey...go to Ebay where you can generally pay more than what they go for new at places like Musicians Friend, etc...

seriously (which I just was!! ), check the discount places, chains... such as Musicians Friend, being a start. Maybe too "generic" an answer, or too obvious, but that is where I would start....at least to get a handle on what you might expect to pay.

If you could stray from online, Guitar Center has been nothing but flexible with me on equipment (I am boycotting Sam Ash, so they like me at GC). I have gotten $500 mics for $180 and had $150 knocked off of monitors without even "haggling." If you can, head to Guitar Center and see what deals you can scoop up. If you don't have one, then like mixmkr said, try Musician's Friend. They're affiliated with Guitar Center, so they have pretty good deals - but if it comes down to a great deal on eBay, definitely go for that. I've gotten quality gear on there for $200 less than the lowest I could find, and in great condition. Good luck!

There is a lot of them. It depends on which Rode and Studio Projects mics you want... because, for example... sometimes some stores are higher on one mic and lower on another... or a store special, and etc.

Here's a few place's you can get Rode and Studio Projects mics from...
http://www.8thstreet.com (Rode & SP)
http://www.ebay.com (Rode & SP)
http://www.frontendaudio.com (Rode & SP)
http://www.macmidimusic.com (Rode & SP)
http://www.musiciansfriend.com (Rode only, no SP mics)

I like FullCompass.com but for some strange reason their webpage isn't working right now... but the phone number is 1-800-356-5844. Also War (Front End Audio) is an active hr.com member, so you might try sending him a PM and ask him if he will match or beat the lowest prices you can find.

I've actually bought all of my mics recently on eBay. Other than a SP B1 they were used and were about half the list price of a new one. They all work great as far as I can tell.
