hello. i have a digi001 and would like better converters. Any suggestions for 2000 budget. I mostly track synths and samples. Thanks!

I agree, Lucid is very nice. But, how many channels do you need? In and out?

If it's just two of each, you're in for a treat, because there are many superb converters in that price range. I would suggest looking at a Lavry Blue mainframe and a pair of AD and pair of DA. That's a little over budget, but shouldn't everything be a bit over budget?

I have the Lucid ADA 8828. I am happy with it. It is only 48khz, not 96, but it still sounds impressive, IMHO.

Again, depending on the numbers of digital ins and outs the original poster needs (don't you love it when the orignal poster is AWOL?), there may be more reasonalbe choices. For example, if he wants 8 ins and 8 outs, the RME ADI-8 Pro is a decent mid level converter. It runs about $1,200 or so, less used. Jim Williams of Audio Upgrades does an analog mod to that box which swaps out the op amps and coupling caps and reworks the power supply, for about $400. It improves the piece quite a bit.

Used Apogee if more than 2 in and out are needed, Lavry Blue or even the new Myteks if only 2 channels are needed.

didn't mean to go AWOL. I've been reading about the suggestions made. I appreciate all. I'm looking at two channels.
I have a dumb question, please be gentle - The converters mentioned all include clocks - does that mean that I will be able to 'sync' my digi001 to the converters that i purchase?
