What's the best way to connect Focusrite Trakmaster to Terratec EWX24/96?

Trakmaster doesn't have xlr outs so I have to use a plug. My soundcard has stereo RCA I/O and an optical digital I/O. I don't think I will be using the optical one because I don't have the A/D converter for the trakmaster? So what kind of cable do I need? I'll be recording in mono so can I just use one RCA channel?

You'll want to connect an unbalance 1/4" mono (TR) to single RCA patch cord between the two. Plug the 1/4" mono plug into the -10 output of the trakmaster (This is the unbalance output)... and the RCA to one of the soundcard's inputs. That's the simplest...

If you want to use +4 levels... you'll need to find a cable that's 1/4' balanced TRS on one side... and RCA with Ring-shield shorted on the other... I'm sure they're out there... then plug into the balanced output (+4) of the trakmaster

I'd go that route (balanced)... and yes... that's the cable you want.

Be sure to set the soundcard for the +4 input or you'll overdrive it...

The balanced, +4 level is the better one though to use, right?
Yes, it's better but not if your card is -10 unbalanced. Use the unbalanced -10 output in that case.
