I vote:
Yamaha EZ2200 & 3200 w/burn protection software.
And, capable of up to 40x write speed.

Have only worked with Iomega Predator USB External, slow and had a few coasters.

Believe it or not, I have a USB external that I just bought from Radio Shack for $169, and it works great on my w982d PIII 500mhz, 256 MEG system. Not a coaster yet, out of 40 burns. Slow of course, being USB, but it burns at 6X, no trouble. Uses Nero Burn Software [which seems to have a good buffer], comes with a labeling program. Unit is very sturdy-feeling, as opposed to the Iomega external, which feels kinda flimsy to me.
