best cd burner?

7-string - No, I think that's some Yamaha thingamabob... "DiscTa2" or something. No... That's a different one... There is a new one that has some sort of photosensitive layer on the print side... Can't remember the brand.

Billy - Tayio Yuden is the leading brand for the most part for audio (really, for anything as far as I'm concerned).

That being said, and what drives the importance for error-checking capabilities - Some recent lots of TY's have had a far higher error rate than what I'm used to. Still well lower than most, but higher than normal. There have also been a few discs with C2 errors on them. Somebody on the QC line wasn't paying attention. I don't think I've had a TY with C2's on them in six months until this last lot - Probably every 5th or 6th disc on average was a reject (and yes, I switched drives just to be sure).

The point is that some discs WILL have C2 errors on them no matter how hard you try to avoid them. Any reputable plant will reject them right off the bat, but IMO, it's better to not let it get into the client's hands to begin with.
