Best building software?

Is there a software program devoted to building home studios?(probly not) but if so?

Or what home building software has the most options? or would be well suited for 3D Objects like desks, computers, etc...?

If all else fails I guess I could just draw, I have Home Builder Punch Software but its kinda outdated and cruddy looking.

I want to design a Recording Studio just for fun(or if I get rich one day), and soon I am actully going to design a outdoor theater with surround sound, that I will actully use.

Any input would be great.

We're building a studio and the easiest software we've come across has been Visio. It is pretty easy to learn and the best thing is that Microsoft lets you have a 60 day trial to test it out.

Design Software

Any 3D CAD software should work, if you want to really do it right:

AutoCad Revit® Architecture http://usa.autodesk.com

SolidWorks http://www.solidworks.com/

ArchiCad http://www.graphisoft.com/products/archicad/

Some less costly options could be:
SketchUP http://sketchup.google.com/

PunchCad http://www.punchcad.com/

Visio ... I've never used so I'm not sure if it is as precise as a CAD program, I always had the impression that it was more like a vector graphic paint type program, I could be wrong.

Pencil and Paper on quadgrille graph paper works well too :D

Great news! Well at least for me and maybe others can use it from VETUSWARE.COM I downloaded a few cad programs.

But the one I remember the most is my father using a program called KeyCAD 1.0, he had a HUGE tablet with a mouse that had some sort of lens on it and a pen also. He used it to make tanks designs for a aluminum anodizing line.

I am just going to design a "dream" man shack/recording studio, so stay tuned for my uploads of diagrams.
Hopefully If i become rich one day I can actully build it.

Yeah I might just end up going and buying some sketchpaper, only problem is I suck a drawing 3D, so Ill have to pratice on that.

I've been a designer/draftsman/detailer for 25 years, I used Autocad for everything...UNTILL I discovered Sketchup. Man, its a simple program, free, and does things that NO other program does. Might take a little practice, but once you learn the basics, you can draw simple 3d stuff real quick. The Push/Pull tool is invaluable. There is even a built in tutorial that explains all the tools. And there is a HUGE Sketchup warehouse of drawings that other people have drawn to share with other users. Simply download them right into your model. Remember to draw to Full Scale though. Studio stuff galore. Instruments, consoles, acoustical stuff...unbelievable Plus there is a Sketchup users forum where you can find anything you need to know.

Heres a a few samples of my studio and other things in Sketchup.
The interesting thing is you can build components and save them to use in other models. Once you get the hang of "groups" and components" your on your way.

One other thing. Learn to draw as things REALLY are. Measure them. Learn to draw in FULL SCALE. Assume NOTHING. That way, when it comes time to build, there won't be any surprises. I'm here if you need any help. This stuff is EASY once you get the hang of it.:)

When it comes to building what you draw, heres the proof of what I say

Sketchup

Great work Rick ... I think it might be some of that acad experience peeking through.... looks like it took a wee bit of time.

there's a massive monitor screen missing in your real pics rick :p

whatever happened to "keeping it real"?

The sketchup diagrams look really nice!! I have played around with it a little bit, but not to that extent. I have done some of mine in Omnigraffle which works well for simple diagrams (note that this s only for Mac).
