I just bought an Alesis Wildfire...1x12 with 60 watts. Go ahead...throw tomatoes!! I have a good collection of tube amps too. But this little sucker is loud, and has all the effects built in. I get a great sound, imo, and am glad I got it. A couple people have said this amp really sucked, but most of the reviews I have read on the internet, the people really seemed to like them.
Right now at Musicians Friend, they are selling
the Wildfire 60 watt version for $200, and you get a free foot pedel from Alesis as a rebate..which is two buttons for up/down banks and an expression pedal. The older "
spitfire" series, they are blowing them out at $129 for the 60 watt version....basically the same amp line as the wildfire series. I don't think you can beat that with a stick.
Personally, I get pretty much the same sound on this little bugger as I do on my Ampeg V4 at a much lower volume. Wish I had this setup 30 years ago.
Oh...not to mention, I do run this stereo with another small amp too... Makes the chorus that much thicker.
