benefits of having a synth or a home set up thingy

Hey, I just got a beginner sampler/drum machine and have my hands tied with it currently. I am either going to go the comunity college to learn to program or I am going to build up my home set up.but my part time job has been getting to me lately, or I have been letting the managers get under my skin. I do get a free ride though due to mental illness but it is my last chance for the education and I feel I have something to prove.
I am torn on if I want a minotaur moog home set up or if I should just get the behringer knock of poly-d. But I am just one man and probably won't be playing live unless it's a dj gig. I am a huge loner.

The price range is similar for both synth set ups, I really have no idea of the pro's and cons of either set ups.
It is about money with me, maybe I should just get the mini korg vocoder or something. I owned one for like a month but I sold it due to my money problems a couple years ago, been dealing with porn addiction also.

What would any of you go get? the poly-d or the minotaur set up?

well if I got an actual moog I could have 8 voices instead of 4 but I don't have money for that shit, part of me wants a freaking organ synth also. either way
I don't even have a proper electric guitar and thats the instrument I think I know how to play. I have acoustic piano and guitar and some percussion instruments basically.

I"m confused.... you talk about the Minitaur, which is a bass synth, then the Poly D which is a knock of a MiniMoog. What are you trying to do? Play synth bass or do Keith Emerson type stuff?

The Poly-D looks pretty cool, and cost is about the same as buying a Mexican Strat or Tele. That's pretty cheap compared to the old days when the MiniMoog came out. It certainly beats the 10 grand+ that people want for an old one!

If you need a good "proper electric guitar" for not too much money, I would suggest a nice G&L ASAT Tribute. You can find used ones for under $400, and they play and sound really good. Get the one with the bigger pickups, they have a good ballsy sound, but still a bit of tele spank if you want it.

I concur. G&L make fabulous guitars.
