I think you should make it a rule that behringer = crap. maybe that have a good product out there somewhere but i dont know of it. the reason its only 129 is because thats all its worth (probably less). Try an ART MP (around $200) more expensive than the behringer and less features but i doubt you could even compare the sound. Ofcourse if you've tried it and you like it then go for it.

I only found these forums recently, but from what I've seen so far, Behringer seems to be the most despised producer of audio equipment in these parts (by leaps and bounds, even.) I'm simply wondering -- of all the people that post "Behinger Sucks" messages, how many have actually used a Behinger product for any reasonable amount of time?
I'm not insinuating that they don't deserve a bad reputation, but I'm curious how much of it is deserved. Of countless "Behinger Sucks" posts I've read, I think I've only seen 2 or 3 persons relate a bad personal experience with a Behinger product...

I've been using the Behringer Composers and Intelligates for years. I like em, they do the job that I want them to, and they sound pretty damn good....altho not as good as the RNC. I can't fault the intelligates or compressors at all......others on this board will probably disagree with me.
I haven't used any other behringer products, so I can't really make any comments or assumptions, but drawing on everybody's experience with Behringer mixers....I'd stay right away

hmmm, Actually a "pro" told me that the Behringers were great little compressors and gates and that he uses them all the time in his studio, alongside neve preamps and his SSL desk etc......
I pretty much bought them on his recommendation, and also the fact that I got the composers and the intelligates dirt cheap second hand

Behringer product I've trashed is their MIXERS!!! The worst ever made.
I use their comps,dsp's and their gates and I find them to be decent, middle-of-the-road gear designed for the budgetary recordist!

have you read thru those threads you are referring to?....most times, people come to the defense of Behringer products...but the general consensus is that their mixers suck, and they kinda do......

Why bother with what the pros say it may be all nice in theory but can you really afford this gear ?
I feel Behringer have lifted their game alot since their early releases sure its not neve and studer gear but what do you want for the price too many people looking for miracles out of gear priced and geared at the entry level end of the market for example look at the ecm 8000 omni mics 35usd a piece thanks to Havey Gerst we are all the wiser now and behringer would be moving these as fast as Mc donalds moves burgers in this end of the woods just go look at the posts in the michrophone section
under behringer may have taken the lead for best bang for buck mic the title is something like that but read this and then say it all sucks then you can even hear the mic on peoples demos and it dont sound bad at all forget all the talk about behringer if this is what you can afford at least make an informed decision and find out what they have sold which is good value before you cast another bad post about behringer everything wether it costs a lot or a little in the right hands will do a half decent job but the best gear within the grasp of the inexperienced is as good as having no gear at all .

Well said, too many people expect to be experts if they purchase the so-called "Pro" gear and expect "Pro" results only to come away disappointed because they don't know what they are doing in the first place....Ive seen it happen way too many times before.....the rich kid around the street got protools for his mac.....saying that he was gonna be the next big thing in engineering, After his first session he ended up selling it cos he didn't have a clue about things like mic placement......and he still continues to say that protools is the biggest load of shit program Sad world sometimes

I am learning alot about my gear purchases now
i too aspired to have visions of grandure as well but i guess i had to wind it down a bit as well.
I guess its nice to have all the stuff we want but in the end we do have to ask ourselves what will we do with all this gear essp if we are not making money out of this fulltime and lets face it the wonderfull rock and rock n roll days are well behind us now even though hard nuts like me wont let go the reality is i,ll de dusting all that great gear one day simply because there aint enough demand now for it all essp with whats been happening with big studios everywhere demand is alot less now and supply is not the problem.
The real survivors out there will be the very flexible studio owner who can turn their studio in many directions to suit many styles and budgets from the school kid to the big bucks person and iam sure you would not be hauling that a827 out to record the corner schools christmas holiday tunes etc
Its all a big pain in the ass really but thats just the nature how things go sometimes

Agreed Trebles, Way too many people tend to jump in before researching a product. I think everyone has done it before. My serious gear regret is the Alesis 3630, which I promptly got rid of. I don't really wanna turn this into a gear sledging thread though

I've never said anything about Behringer - good or bad - that i can recall, but I have had the Virtualizer and can honestly say that it's a giant piece of shit. Other than the delays, every effect is crap, and the design is too idiotic to describe.

i'm quite a behringer fan actually.. bang for the buck..
when all hope seemed to be out for me cause i needed a mixer and couldn't afford one, i found the mx2642a and i'm very impressed by it for what it's worth.. i've been making music for 10 years, and for the amount of money i spent i must say i'm extremely pleased.
I think it has simply become cool to say "behringer sux" .. makes you sound like you actually know what you're talking about..
shure.. it's no mackey or anything, but it sure as hell doesn't cost a fortune either and it works and that's the main thing..
mrqq.. what's so bad about dem mixers? they have eq, they have buses, they have pfl, solo and mute.. they're more noisefree than my cup o' tea.. ehh?

I've used a small Behringer mixer quite a bit (1604), along with my Mackie (the B is quieter; the M sounds better and is more capable - at three times the price), and for my use and budget, it is a great little mixer. I think the key is to be aware of its limitations. I wouldn't expect it to hold up under rigorous tour use, but I'm not a tour type. And more money will get you better preamps, and so forth.
Maybe all I'm trying to say is know your market. Everytime I put together my dream list and fold it into the budget (such as it is), its Behringer and Mackie everywhere. Can you do better? Of course. Just throw a bunch more money in the pot.
