It would work. Wouldn't be the best preamp. Wharfedale has a new mixer line called the R series which is a lot better than Behringer. The R200 is the model closet to the 802.

You can check them out at this link -

Thay cost $85.00 and are great little mixers for the money. Drop me a PM if you want to go that way.

Another option is the Soundcraft Compact 4 which runs around $125.00 and is made for PC recording

Are you talking US$ ? The Behringer I can pick up brand new for AU$100 wihch is around US$70... but I';ll have a look at that link.. thanks.

actually the behringer should be 50-60 bucks US. i own it...i know its not the best but i enjoy it and it was huge step up from using the line in or mic on the computer soundcard.

I picked one up to use on my live rig. Absolutely great little mixer. Never had a single problem with it. As for the pre's, they're decent and clean. I like the improvements that Behringer did with the IMP they put on the new boards. They get a little noisy when you crank the gain up too much, but that's expected on any budget mixer.

The only think that I don't like about it is there is not off/on switch. You've got to unplug it to remove power to the board. I fixed that by installing a switch in the power line to the mixer.

yeah i thought about doing that...i just got used to unplugging it

I've got a UB802 - great little unit for short cash. The mic Pre's on it are pretty good considering the price.

No on/off switch is a big minus though, and I did the same thing that BlindCowboy did. :)
