I have a Behringer mic I got for Christmas a few years ago, it was around $30.00. Not a bad mic but I was wondering if there are any Behringer mics that have a similar sound quality to the Shure's but at a lower cost?

Why not just get a Shure SM58? You *KNOW* it's the best for the money. 60$ ish.

Behringer is :s

Alot of people liked the XM2500 because you could pay $20 for it and it is better than most at that price point...but its no shure SM58.
I like it because it makes a good mike to lend out...allways keep one or 2 arround.

I'm forced to admit XM8500 is not a real bad stage mic. I think XM2500 is to SM57 as XM8500 is to SM58- probably the same capsule as XM2500. I'm not completely sure that it isn't a re-badged PG58 or something like that. If you need an expendable $20 mic, it's a perfectly good choice.-Richie

I ordered the XM8500 this afternoon - was quite impressed by the majority of the reviews on it, for only 20 bucks.

Make sure you post up your impressions after you use it. I, for one, like to get checks on my advice, particularly when it is as weird as recommending a Behringer mic.-Richie

Yup.
The first mic I ever bought was an XM8500, just because I couldn't afford anything else. I never a/b'ed it to an SM58 myself but I let a singer borrow it from me once and he found it not too shabby either.

LOL, I'll post my opinion of the mic in a few days (it's shipped so I should have it by the weekend)
