hi.

is the behringer mic2200 any good? i'm looking for a cheap, warm and tubey preamp. i know it won't stop the world...but will it get the job done? if you've used one, tell me what you think.

I sure hope it won't "stop the world." That doesn't sound very nice. ;)

I got one a couple of months ago, and it's doing a decent job for me, although my world is still moving. It's kind of cheesy-looking, but it sounds decent for the money, and has a few nice options for basic tone-shaping that come in handy once you find the settings you like. In my opinion, it colors the sound a hell of a lot less than some of the other lower end pres like the ART. YMMV.

I have the 2200 and its ok, but I think its toooo noisy! A slight faint hum in backgroud. Maybe thats normal, but now that I know its there, it drives me crazy! Should I go to a non-tube mic pre to warm things up? I think I'm going to sell mine if you guys want it. Its flawless and been in rack ever since.

I have one and for the price it's decent preamp... but I have never figured out what the hell is the tube doing behind the window? You can see two leds behind it to make it glow... a bit cheesy:D
