Behringer feedback destroyer...

i'm interested in purchasing this unit for live applications, or would i be better off with something like the peavey feedback ferret? The behr has a parametric eq.

I never used mine in a live setting, but we use to use it in our tiny practice space. It helped a lot, I doubt practicing with vocals through a PA would have been possible without it. You can set it up in a few different ways if I remember correctly,I think we had some of the bands set to learn and remember a certain frequency and others to constantly search problem frequencies. It does take a few seconds to kick in sometimes, but once it does it's very effective at killing feedback. I never really evaluated the impact to the sound though, as we were primarily interested in just being able to hear the singer.

I use the behri deqxxxxx/pro whatever it's called eq in our PA. It's the one with the RTA/pink noise. It has a feedback destroyer in it too. It's only 3 filters per channel but it works really well. I'm thinking on getting their straight FBD that has 12 filters per channel. It's probably the same or similar design as the one I have and hell, it's only $110. You can't go wrong in my opinion.

If you eq the problems out of the room before your performance starts there is no need for a feedback destroyer. But if you don't have the time or things are changing throughout the night it is a good safety back up.

The one thing that stinks about them is when it finds feedback, it has to ring for a second before it kicks in and pulls the freq.

I have used the behringer one in rental package i had one night and it did seem to do it's thing pretty well. we eq'ed the room, and rang it out and then did it after the eqing and it picked up a few freq.

No your better off with using an EQ to work out what you can and a Feedback Suppressor to get the rest. If you have the Budget the DBX Driverack PA is an awesome peice of equipment. It has dual 31 band EQ, Auto EQ (sets it self) crossover, and bunch of other coole stuff. You should be able to get one off ebay for $300.00.

For EQing the house... Graphic EQ is a must...

I second the DBX Driverack... every live-sound engineer I know swears by them

well, i never saw that Driverack before and it was in my Rack
during a small live PA setup last month,

honestly, and i'm ashamed for it, i didn't know what it was and how it worked,
i could go trough presets, but didn't l!ike what i saw on the little screen,
didn't have time at all to figure out how to kill feedback with it,

i guess its a nice machine after u read the manual,
but i prefer Graphic EQ's ... gives me faster control, hands on the ringing frequency...

but sometimes its hell to keep feedback from Monitors,
thats why i'm looking for a feedback destroyer,

and now i wonder, is there a difference between a
sabine, peavy ferret, behringer

in HOW FAST they kill the feedback ?

honestly, i don't think sound quality is an extreme issue cause i'm
'only 'talking about monitors u know...
