Ok so i have my pair, and I really haven't had any time or need to mess with them yet.

I'm looking at one thinking "hey it's made for testing my control room" so why not?

How would one go about doing it? From what I hear I'm supposed to buy another piece of equipment, but I'm not really into that.

Can anyone give us some directions on how to test a control room with this and recommend some software that might work? (I'm using a daw)

EM I think

EM had an article a few months back..the cover has an Earthworks QTC1, and I think is titled something like Truth or Consequences..try www.emusician.com

Otherwise, I'd say that you can go nuts and such..or you can just get used to the sound of the room, and go from there, with minor treatments..if you know how things sound, then you should be able to make things work best....like people go out and buy a pair of expensive monitors, and have to get used to the sound, when they coulda hooked up their stereo speakers which they listen to everyday, and gotten a good sound quicker, or even better sound..in my opinion at least.

I have yet to use mine on drums. Here is what I did do with it though:

I downloded SoundTech's RTA32 and used the ECM8000 to help me eq my control room. I can attest that once the room was eq'ed, I was able to hear problems on my monitors that I had only been able to hear when taking a CD of my mix to different listening environments.

yeah I'm not looking to fix my room with eq. I already have some treatments....some wedgies and bass traps (bass traps are a GODSEND) I'm just trying to find out where my problems lie, so that I know what else I need to treat my room with.
