Behringer have a codensor mic' out now .
anyone tried it. how much is it

Never tried it.... why would I bother? (Chances of it being as useful as a Radio Shack mic are quite high!)

judging on the replies. I don't think I'll bother either!

well, I may take what I said back(not really though :)). The mic they have is not the same mic as all the other mics flooding the market now. The mic they are selling is a small diaphragm omni condensor for 79.99, looks curiously like earthworks mics, but I'm sure not as good sounding....I know :). But we all know that making a small diaphragm mic is no secret (as opposed to the art of making a large disphragm)..so could they have fucked up that bad? Maybe, Maybe not. I may buy a few, not for recording in my studio mind you, but for recording my band practise. I'll let you all know how that turns out.

The mic' that I am refering to is a large one inch diaphram ,gold sputtered membranes with a 'flat frequency response' from 20hz to 20khz.switchable high pass filter and -10db pad.
I've never actually have seen a behringer so I am a bit ignorent to thr fact:) I'm not a mic guru so I don't know what all the specs mean!

I got sent a brochure thing on that the other day from Venue Music in Sydney, Peter. I threw it away because I wan't particularly interested but from what I remember it retailed at AU$795 - which puts in the same ballpark as the Rode NT2 in terms of price and by the looks of it features too. I think it was also an omni/cardiod capsule.

Considering the glowing reviews of the NT2 in recent times and the fact that Rode is an Australian company I'd say forget the Behringer and get a Rode.

I thought behringer were trying to compete .If you can get a RODE in the same price range they must be kiding themselves.I have a behringer valve pre-amp which is an ok unit(very quiet) but as far as this mic' sounds ,if it was half the price I maybe would consider it .but at the same price range of a rode, they must be 'bloody idiots'.:)
