I have a small budget at present so i have invested in some cheap behringer . Infact i brought the Behringer C2, for £40 i could'nt go wrong.

I have'nt yet tried them out as I have been working solid.

Has anyone tried the Samson C02's which are also a matched pair, i mean are they really much better then the behringer's.

I will eventually invest in some decent Small diaphram condensers like the Rode Nt5's.

Dave

I think the general response you will get will be to stay away from both of those. My dad actually has a pair of the behringers, they aren't too bad, but you can do better for the money(and for less).

While I don't have any personal experience with them, the MSH mics get alot of praise around here. You may want to consider some of them.

Edit: Sorry, I didn't really read you post :D. Try out the berry you bought, if you like it, sure, go get another. I havn't had any experience with any samson mics, and you don't hear much about them, but I'm guessing they won't be any better then the behringers

Those naint mics , do you have to order them from abroad ? I am in the UK.

Or do you know of any UK dealers?

Dave

Naiant/MHS mics are ordered directly from the website & they deliver o'seas. I bought one & they sent to Australia for me no worries.
Nice too!

Behringer c2 modification

Among other mikes i own 3 sets Behringer C2. In one of them the electret capsule is damaged (nearly "dead") possibily because a helper pushed it in the clamp with his flat handpalm on the grille. Stupid.

Sound quality and stero image is very good, as long as you correct the freq. char. using EQ on the mixer or lateron FFT filter in the editting software. Noiselevel is adequate in silent churches when recording classical performances.

BUT: they have a serious design fault:
the output IMPEDANCE is NOT equal at both signal pins. Not only the audio is connected to one pin only (which is totally exeptable because the mixer sees only the difference between both signal pins), but the signal-less pin is also directly connected to mass for AC signals. So one pin is abt. 63 Ohm impedance, the other is 0 Ohms. That must be equal within 1% to obtain 40dB cable hum and noise canceling.

This fault will be noticed as hum or tikking noises during recording ! Caused by induction onto the microphone cable.

I devellopped a modification (which i send to Behringer) so the output impedance balance is good and hum and noises induced onto the mike cable will be canceled out in the mixer input stage. For mod. see: OEIOEI my url is not accepted. Stupid.

Search for :
- Improove Behringer C2 mikes (old model).
or
- pa0nhc
or send me a mail, i will send you the url.

REM:
In one of my mixers mike inputs i noticed severe cracking noises.
Cause: 6k8 SMD input resistors in all 6 mike inputs were become bad.
Remedy: replace them all by PAIRED (within 0.1% equal !! , measureble with every cheap DIGITAL multimeter) 6k8 1/2W METALFILM resistors (the type with wires on them). The exact value is NOT important, as long they are EQUAL within 0.1% for each pair.
So buy a bag of 100 pieces 6k8 1% 1/2W resistors (a few Euro's) and select pairs (Conrad).

Greetings, Nico.

I've used both the Behringers and the Samsons and for my money theres not a lot in it. I prefer the |Samsons but only just.
As for the Niant +1 on that buddy buy direct from John (used to be the main mic guru here) You can get them Direct at Niaint.com. (not affiliated)
I'm Uk based too and i've bought several of his mics theyre great value and even if you do have to pay a small VAT fee on arrival. It's worth it.
I cant say enough good things about the Niaint Omnis especially on acoustic guitars even on an Amp too.
I hope this help
Rich

Greetings, Nico.

A resistor made your mixer crackle?
Really?

I think the general response you will get will be to stay away from both of those.

Don't know about Samsons, but I would not be somebody advising against the C2s. They are great little mikes, very versatile, great for live work and way better than the often used 57s.

My dad actually has a pair of the behringers, they aren't too bad, but you can do better for the money(and for less).

The price of a C2 is about as low as you can get, so I reckon you would be struggling to find something cheaper and better.
