Hi there,
I just purchased a Behringer B2 on eBay. I plugged it into my counsel to see if it works. Nope. I then plugged it into a mic pre amp to see i it works nope. Well, since I bought it on eBay  , should I freak out & bitch the dude out who sold it to me OR...Do I keep a cool head & see whether or not this Mic requires a phantom power source?
Wouldn't it work with the tube pre-amp I plugged it through? Or, Do I need an additional 48V phantom power source? :(

HELP BEFORE I KILL!!!

Just kiddin' But really, any advice would be quite helpful to my blood pressure.

If it's a condenser mic it needs phantom power.

The tubes in a mic pre are not a power source, they are used to color the sound.

I would eliminate all of your possible errors before you call someone else out. If you're wrong you would just come off looking like a moron.

Well the Behringer B2 is a Condenser Mic so you MUST use Phantom Power with it......

All Condenser Mics Need Either Phantom Power or Battery Power with Phantom being the Most Common...

Just switch on the Phantom Power on your Mixer and you will be Ready to Rock .....

Cheers

Just remember that the words "condensor" and "phantom power" ALWAYS go together in the same sentence! Without phantom power, it's a paper weight....

And here I always thought they were there for gain structure.

Nah. They're there to add noise.

Oh... and hum. Don't forget hum.

:D

I wouldn't even be surprised if homeboy did have the "fantum power" turned on his "counsel" or outboard pre and the d@mn thing still didn't work. :o
That's Behringer for you.

Yo' ap-emerger, holla' back and let us know if it was the mic's lack of 48v juice or you if you got juiced by the seller.
