I Returned It

The true cost, indeed. I got an RMA and shipped it back today but both Behringer and Unique Squared, the place I bought it from, wanted me to pay the return shipping. At the retailer, that's really bad business but a little bit (a very little bit) more understandable than the manufacturer themselves making the end user contribute to the cost of replacing the defective product they manufactured and marketed as functional. If you're running a mail order business, i. e. your customers can't just bring it back to the store on their own, and you sell a defective product, you need to send a call tag, period. So the cost is now up from $175 to $195 and I have to wait a week or two before I have my setup together again, assuming that the new 8000 even works. I say that not just because of Behringer's terrible reputation on quality control which I have read about online but from personal experience: this is the second piece of Behringer gear I bought that went belly-up within two months. So far, they're 0 for 2. And this shipping thing isn't helping them in my eyes, either. I am only glad it wasn't a heavier or larger piece of gear.

I went for a pair of ADI-8's (about $1800) You're in for $200ish.
Not to to bad.. :drunk:

Resolution

I have opted for a full refund (minus return shipping) and plan to avoid Behringer gear like the plague from now on. One final note: I found the preamps very hissy.
