Hi!

Please forgive my ignorance-this is my first post to this forum.

I'm trying to record multitrack drums (8 tracks). I have a Behringer 2442 USB mixer, but with the USB to my computer, it can only do stereo 2 tracks, instead of 8 multitracks. I'm interested in purchasing an M-Audio Delta 1010LT. Am I correct that this will allow me to record multiple tracks at a time? If so, should I use the 8 direct outs on the Behringer to the 1010LT? If so, do I use 1/4" to one male RCA cable, or 1/4" to two RCA cables? Or, is there another device to connect to the Behringer (for approximately similar price) that you would recommend instead? Again, please forgive my lack of knowledge.

Thank you very much!

Hi,
Yes, the delta is capable of discreet recording of every input.

The behringer has 8 direct outputs and the 1010 has >8 line inputs.
You'd need a cable for each direct output.

If the ins and outs are balanced, use TRS cables; If not, use TS.

Thanks for the info!

I believe the direct outs on the Behringer are unbalanced, but I'll be running them a very short distance (about three feet). It appears that the M-Audio 1010LT has 7 stereo RCA inputs (14 individual RCA inputs, if I'm looking at it correctly)-does that mean I should run 1/4" unbalanced outputs from the Behringer direct outs into 2 RCA inputs in the M-Audio (left and right), or should I run 1/4" unbalanced direct outs from the Behringer into a single RCA input in the M-Audio? I hope that makes sense!

Thanks again!

Sounds like it's unbalanced at both ends then.
You'd run one TS to RCA cable per mixing desk input.

With individual channels there is no stereo. Just 8 mono tracks.

Have a look on ebay or your local stores. People sell 8 way TS to RCA looms. I used to have a 1m one. It wasn't expensive.
Hope that's useful.
