Behringer 1622 - how to record all channels without hearing them all?

I have a Behringer 1622USB and I'm really confused by it. I've tried to figure out my problem by looking at the schematic diagram, but I don't think it matches the board exactly. Anyway:

I have mics & keyboards set to go to MAIN (then to a poweramp/speakers) and I have a guitar input routed just to SUB. I want to use the USB output going to my PC to record all the channels, but I don't want to have the guitar sound heard while recording. Which ever way I set it, if I get the guitar to go to the PC, I also hear it in the main speakers.

Can anyone point me to the solution?
 
Headphones instead of speakers? The USB output is just what is going to the MAIN audio output.
 
Don't think headphones are the solution. In performance, the mixer is primarily intended to send my mics/keyboard to the speakers. I'd like to record the performance, but I need to include the guitar somehow. He passes me a cable output from his amp and I want to include that in the recording, but not include it in my main speakers.
 
To be clear, you want guitar to go to your recording, but not to the main live mix?

The only solution I can think of is:

Route your mics and keys to the sub, not the guitar. Use the sub assign buttons to mix the sub with the main. Take your live output from the sub outs (no guitar).

The disadvantage of this is that the sub outs are unbalanced. This may or may not be an issue depending on the rest of your set-up.

It may be possible to modify the sub unbalanced TS outs to provide true impedance balanced TRS outs if it becomes necessary. Or take the sub outs through a single end to balanced converter - I think Jensen does something like this.

Thanks, Paul, your idea was great! I'm running everything I want to hear through the sub with the guitar just going into the main. The left&right sub assign buttons then add the sub channel to the main, which all ends up in the USB output to the PC recorder.

I took it one step further though because with my amps/speakers coming from the sub channel, I had no way to play break music from the PC USB input (or listen to the recordings I made). I solved this by putting my amps into the control room outputs and then I can select the source from either the sub, main or even both! Thanks again for getting me thinking - and balanced lines are the least of my worries!
 
Glad things are working to requirement! There is quite a lot of routing flexibility, and sometimes you need to take a step back and think things through.

Sometimes you can get a routing diagram for consoles, which can be very helpful to understand what is going to and from where.
