Beginner needs help with laptop setup

I want to use my laptop to record at home and at live appearances. Here is what I have, what is a good work around the soundcard issue?

Equipment:
-CTX Pentium 233mHZ | 32MB RAM | 2.4GB HD
(2 USB ports, game port, etc.)
-Behringer 8 track mixer
-Condenser mics
-Acoustic guitars
 
forgive the question, but does your machine even have a soundcard? You have to have some type of multi-media playback deal. That and any number of software packages and you have the basic building blocks right there.

Yes, the machine came with a 16 bit soundcard. I don't have it with me today, and their site is down, so I don't know the exact specs. I checked last week and it met basic compatibility requirements.
