Hi Guys,

I'm new to the home recording scene and really need a few questions answered if you can spare me some of your expertise. I am looking to record accoustic songs that I have written.

1. I have purchased a Behringer C-1U to record my tracks, when recording guitar should the mic be right in front of the sound hole/strings or is it ok to place it at a discance of say a metre? Also with singing, should this be done close or distant? I realise the best answer is what sounds better but if anyone can give me their thoughts id really appreciate it.

2. Im using Wavepad and mixpad at the moment but how can I create say a tambouring or shaker track to layer over with my song? Is there software or a website for this or do I need to do it the old fashioned way with an actual instrument?

Thanks guys, I realise these are very amateur questions but any answers would be greatly appreciated. Also any extra tips would also be gladly received.

1st am not all exprienced either but may be this will help. if you want to recoed insrument you should consider a dynamic mic or a small cardoid condenser mic not that the c-1u wont giv u the result but they wont as perfect as say sm57.
The distance of recording acoustics vary from u trying out different experiments at different distance aand the one you like most is the one you use and son.
on creating sahkers and tambs you either get the instrument itself or get sounds and sample from the net there loads an loads am sure you could use for your song. Hope this helps and happy recording.
