I am a hobby musicianist- (and semi pro whenever our band actually all gets together at the same time- harder than you think) Anyway, sometimes i just wanna make up my own stuff- i can play guitar and bass and i could probably sing if i was forced and i think it would be nice to create and record a song just for the hell of it sometimes- problem is I CANT DRUM- not at all- i dont have a drum set at my house anyway- Id be doin rock and roll or punk rock type a stuff so the drums dont need to be too elaborate- now im recording to the computer- (AMD athlon 2.0, 256 ram, maudio 2496) Now for my question...

Is there a way to create a virtual drum track that changes up at different parts of the song (so its not so incrediblly mechanical)? I have a cheap (kinda big) keyboard with MIDI in-out-thru). Is there software I can get that will generate a drum beat that I can tell to change and when?

I dont even know if im in the right forum for this and i dont know shit about MIDI- so i would appreciate your guidance-

Thanks

I guess what im looking for is a drum machine for my computer (without an external drum machine)

Please Help............

Need more info - you didn't mention ANY music software, do you have anything like that yet? Also need some kind of idea about your budget - $0, $3million, somewhere in between?

When you post questions, you need to include enough info so us non-mindreaders can anwer without first having to go thru half a dozen posts asking for the rest of your particulars :=)

OK-

Now using CEP 1.2 to record external sources- Im looking for software to create drums in the computer- software- preferably something in a demo form so i can mess with and see if its worth my time or if I should just come up with a drum set and someone to sit behind it- I can record that. I did a quick search for "drum machine software" and got a bunch of techno crap- I guess thats predominantly who uses this stuff- seems like the few i found can export to .wav- I can bring that into CEP- since im not looking to do a whole lot of production with it- im looking for cheap and easy- more of a toy than a tool- its not for my band- its just for me to play with.- Hope thats enough info- I dont know much about MIDI so im tryin to think of all the pertinant info you need- but thats all i can think
