Before saving your recordings????

What are some good things to do before saving your final project on cool edit pro2 to get a beter sound?

say your gonna save your songs to a cd for a demo or w/e
Would it be better to save as mp3 or wav?
What somethings to do before you save the file though? Like hardlimiting and normalizing

Im no good at eqing either .. I dont know jack about mhz and freq. So Im kinda scared to mess with an EQ, but I know I need to learn to eq.. Anything I could read up on to help me with EQing?

If you want to go to cd never save as mp3. Certainly not if you want to go on woking on the file later on.

Normally I save the raw unchanged data. Make a copy and continue on the copy so I always can go back. If you put the original on a cd or a different disk you have at least a kind of backup.

Well, there are those who would say "have a nice hot cup of tea" because it does you good and you can think straight afterwards!! But to save the raw data is very good advice.
