Okay, Ive been asking alot of questions lately, and with everyones help, Ive come to the conclusion Im going to get:

Delta 44 (Soundcard)
M-Audio DMP-3 (Preamp)
Studio Projects B1 (Mic)

Ive been told these will all work together. Before I buy them, however, I want to make sure I understand it all.

Im thinking the Delta will slide into the back of my machine where my current default audio card is, where I plug in my PC speakers and PC mic. There is an empty place underneath to put another card in.

Then there is a wire connecting the Delta card to the box. I then plug my preamp into the card, and my mic into the preamp. I install the Delta drivers, and record.

Am I right? If Im not, what am I missing? Thanks. :)

Hmm, Ive just come across the Presonus FirePod (I can also get the Firebox, its cheaper. If the qualitys not different, Id rather get the box. Keeping in mind I only need to record one track at a time.) seems good. Better or worse than the preamp and delta combo?

You'll probably want to plug the output of the Delta into something---assuming, of course, that you want to hear what you've recorded. :D

Don't know about the relative quality of the pres, but a FireBox or FirePod will definitely be viable longer. PCI is sort-of on its way out, technology-wise, being superseded by PCI Express (a.k.a. PCIe).
