I've tried ACID Techno 3.0. It's okay, but it's not generic enough for what I'm doing. I need really basic loops and the ability to construct really basic loops that don't sound like any particular genre.

What am I looking for? ACID pro? Fruity Loops? Something else? I'm not looking for something that pretends to sound like drums. I *want* it to sound like loops, but not like any ready-made recognizable genre. Am I making sense? Does this kind of software exist?

There are many drum loop libraies for acid that include one shots. Basically one shots will include several different bass drum hits, snares, toms, cymbals...ad naseum. You can use acid with the individual hits. Acid allows you to map the sounds to create the beats as you wish. i have almost every acid loop library and would be more than happy to send you some samples.

I use microsoft instant messenger. if you do not have it, go to msn.com and download it. (MSN makes you open a Hotmail acct. which is free...)

My handle is

billhandy1@hotmail.com

Shoot me an instant message and I'll send you some samples. If you don't have acid download the demo from acidplanet.com

Hopefully you have a cable modem or better...this way i can send the samples to you very quickly. Let me know.....

You want Fruity Loops and some samples other than the stock ones that it comes with....just search samples and free becauselots ofpeople, myself included, have posted links to sites with free samples and some are quite decent......

or that way (Gargamel's) is good too...G-dude, you may have to hook up a brutha with some samples.....and dont be smurf hatin'......

Peace

Let me know....have cable modem will send samples...let me know what you want. They are pretty small......I have over 14gigs of samples loaded in my computer.....(I have 3 40 gb hardrives in a server tower )

Its the Bomb.

Do me a favor. Check out my last post in the thread on noise floors. Am I on the right track?

If you IM me, i will send you some samples!

Hey, thanks, but I'm still trawling it in at 56K. :D

I've played with the Fruity Loops demo, and I'm assuming that ACID pro works like the Acid Techno I bought. Fruity loops seems easier to work with and build with. No?

It doesn't get any easier than acid. Its soooooo simple to use. I couldn't imagine haveing a tough time with it. Just my 2 cents....Then again, I never checked out fruity loops.

56k?? I can still send you some one shots. The files are small and will transfer quickly. Let me know.

If you don't like the feel of Acid, you could always try Magix Music Maker. I used to use it back in the days before ACID and it worked really well (they have newer versions now). The key is in your sample libraries. If you don't have the means of making your own (that sound exactly how you want them to), then look into sample libraries. You can always do better than the canned ones they give you with the program.

Magix.......I don't know dude. Thats one step above crapola.
:D

Choir Samples? Like what? Vocal Planet by Ilio?.......Let me know what type of Choir Patches you are talking about.:p

Dobro, I find Fruity Loops alot easier, but I find Acid is more flexible.....for building loops, FL.....for putting a buch of loops together, Acid.....

Gidge - yeah, that's my impression - there's more to learn in Acid, but it's more flexible in some ways. I think I'll go with both.

Sean - thanks for the insight. I'll be using canned sounds plus my own samples. I'll start looking into the librairies.

Gargamel - thanks for the offer. I might take you up on it after I get into it a bit more and know exactly what I'm looking for. LOL Does that *ever* happen?

*ever*? -- No comprende...... (I'm drunk right now....3 day weekend.....)

Does one ever know exactly what one's looking for? LOL

'I still haven't found what I'm looking for.' U2

Don't forget that, whatever samples you use / have - you don't have to use them like they are! Manipulate them, basterdize them, until you have what you want, then save that as a new sample

tried re-birth? sounds like its close to what your after soundwize, but hell yeah screw with that wave form mate! its amazing how a cowbell can sound when its distorted, revesrsed then reverbed up the wazoo.... oooh when you build up a sample library you must download "sawcutter" from hitsquad it is freeware and it rocks like you wouldn't believe.

I use all three programs Rebirth, Fruity Loops 3.1, and Acid 3.0.

I prefer Acid the most. :) I think it is a more versatile program. But, then sometimes I like to construct my beat traks in FL.

My $.02 :D

peace...

I have to go with Acid. It's the most powerful out of all. And once you get into it, you use that power. If you can't find good samples, just find a spot on your favorite cd with just the kick, or hat, or snare and cut it out and use that.I've done it numerous times.

I have tried rebirth and liked it..but couldn't get it out of the techno/trance sound...

if you need loops, go to www.pocketfuel.com They have a huge assortment of loops. You have to register to get into the libraries...but it's free.

Definetly worth checking out.
