It's early and I just thought of this beat. I'm not a drummer. Anyone want to try it out?

OK, I've been pl;aying drums for many many years....what the fuck is a hi-hat "ping" or "side-hit"?????

Lol. I think the ping is the bell and a side hit is playing them closed ?

I think the OP should learn a little about drums before trying to "compose"....:D

Haha, probably. I think it's a 4/4 with kicks and snare thrown in at odd spots. I think curiosity and basically needing an excuse not to hit the books will result in me giving this a try :D

I have no desire to think about this, try it, or hear what it sounds like.

Sorry - when I said "ping" I meant to play the hi hat normally. When I said "side hit" I meant to strike the edge of the hi-hat with the side of the drumstick. What are the correct terms? Or do they not exist 'cause it is considered incorrect to strike the edge of a cymbal?

There are 32 steps so I think 4/4 would be the best way to think about it. Almost all of the snare hits are on beats 2 or 4.

Nah no need to be sorry. I'm still not sure what you mean by hitting the side. I can't imagine it sounding very different.

Hi-hat is either "closed" "half-open", or "open". I've never seen or heard a hi-hat played or notated any other way.

I've started attaching my sticks to the hi-hat stand and hitting them with the hi-hats like I'm in a marching band.

Cool BentRabbit! It's a faster tempo than what I imagined, but that's the beat. What'd you use?
