Has anyone tried NiMH batteries in their FX? What have your experiences been like? I don't like using AC because the wall warts typically have cords that are too short and the shielding isn't sufficient to prevent line noise.
But I hate having to shell out $$ for batteries every week.

It's low voltage. Noise shouldn't be a factor.

But to answer your question, no, haven't tried it.

NiMH batteries are Noisier than Alkiline batteries especially at lower frequencies but still much better than useing a crappy unregulated and unfiltered Wallmart adapter.....

I have noticed that different types of batteries sound different. I have'nt spent any time comparing though.

i believe i tried some NiMH before... but the ones i was using died pretty quickly.. im all about the a/c now... maybe:
1. build a little filter on them (real easy- inside the pedal)
2. buy better adapters
3. power them off of a filtering powerstrip (thats what i do)

You can Make adapters sound as good as Batteries by simply adding some Big filter caps (1000uF) to each of the Power rails and tied to ground...This will smooth out the DC ripple and also adding a regulator might help a bit.....

There are even some newer High end Pre amps that run off of Batteries and they have 2 sets of rechargeable batteries in them and it is Plugged in all the Time with the preamp running off of the Charged batteries while the Plugin power recharges the other set of batteries and when one set runs out of power it automaticly switches over to the charged batteries.......

I don"t really understand the logic in this because a well designed and filtered power supply should be able to deliver just as good performance as batteries....

Cheers
