im in a band and am looking for a head for my bass setup....what brands should i look at and what wattage???? im gonna be playing little clubs and stuff like that

I like Ampeg, myself. Their amps have a somewhat dirty sound that I think is desirable for bass. I was borrowing a friend's SVT-III Pro for a while, and that's a pretty cool amp. It's a hybrid design, so there's a tube in the preamp and a solid state power amp. It sounds good, though it's not all that loud. I recently scored an SVT-II, which is discontinued. It's a 300 watt all-tube beast that weighs like 90 pounds and is full to the goddang brim of tone.

I don't know, but just about every possible amp has been reviewed here:

I'm sure people will start naming their favorite amps. Then you can read all the reviews on those amps from many people. That's what I'd do anyways. Hope you find a winner!

Oye, tronko, ¿estás en España? ¿Dónde? El año pasado pasé cuatro meses en Alcalá de Henares.

I'm in southern Spain. Rota to be specific. And regretably, I had to use a translator to understand what you said! I've got about 100 spanish words down but 'Oye' and 'tronko' don't make the list!

I was just thinking, gitrokr. It might be worth your time to do a search for "Favorite Bass Amp." Just a thought.

Ah, a thousand pardons, then. I assumed maybe you were a native. What brings you there, then? I don't know exactly where Rota is; the only place in southern Spain I visited was Granada, which was fantastic. I really really want to go back for a visit. A long one, preferably.

By the way, 'oye' means 'hey', and 'tronko' (which should be 'tronco' if you want to spell correctly, but using the k is kind of a slang thing) means 'man' or 'dude' or something along those lines.

Cool. I'm in the US Navy. Just finishing up my 3rd year here. I really should have learned more spanish, but I was always spoiled by being around americans who spoke fluently and were eager to translate. I never had a need for me to even try to understand what was said.

I just saw your location is Not Spain. lol! I'll be there too in a few months!
