Bass Tones

What makes a musician SO strong is having to grind things out. Again this is all up for debate but I'm just giving my piece. Had I not spent so much time with that original bass I never would have appreciated what I have now. I believe trial and error is the mother of invention.
+1x100. So much of my ability to get a great tone is in my hands, and my ability to wring every drop out of whatever level of technology I have at the time.

bass tones...

for a generic bass that will do everything there is only a choice between a Fender Jazz and a Fender Precision......

I love light guage strings.... round wound... rotosounds...

I hate direct boxes.... give me an sm57 correctly placed in front of your amp...

Next play with the tone controls and mic placement...

but like with most music... most of the sound is in your fingers
