Bass Problems In Mixdown - HELP!

Ok, so it seems I just might have no idea what I was talking about. :D

Let me try once more just to make sure you guys are reading me right, and I am in fact wrong.

My hunch was that the OP's monitoring system simply wasn't reproducing the bass frequencies he was adding in, so to compensate for what seemed like a lack of bass in his mix (but was actually a lack of bass in his monitors) he was adding in way too much bass.

But, you two are saying the more likely scenario is that the problem is his room is cancelling out a lot of the bass frequencies, at least in the area of his room in which he monitors, so adding a more robust low end monitoring (either a sub or 8" drivers instead of 5") wouldn't help the problem since the frequencies were still getting canceled out, correct?

Just want to make sure I'm absolutely clear on what you're saying, since room treatment isn't really my forte. :D

Yep, that about sums it up...and adding a sub will only add *more* energy which will result in even greater cancellation.
