bass pick ups

hey all I have a fender bass with dying pick ups which brings me into the market for new pick ups. I'm a guitarist that plays bass on my own recordings so I don't stay up on all the bass stuff like I should. I'm looking for a non-active pick up with a full smooth rounded type sound both neck and bridge pick ups. I play rock and a little jazz. Any advice? thanks

I kind of like Rio Grande pickups. I've got the Muy Grande in a fretless that works really nice for me.

There are more and more pickup companies all the time. If you go with DiMarzio or Seymour Duncan, they will let you exchange your pickup withing 30 days if you don't like it. With many smaller companies you may end up stuck with what you get, like it or not.

I had a bill lawrence pick up in my ibanez guitar for about several years I just replaced it with a tone zone. It sounded ok...I'm wanting a fat, round sound. Any more suggestions...
